About Webuye-East Constituency
Webuye East Constituency is one of the nine constituencies in Bungoma County, located in the western region of Kenya.
Covering an approximate area of 161.8 km², the constituency was carved out from the larger Webuye Constituency.
Since its establishment, Webuye East has had two Members of Parliament:
Hon. Alfred Wekesa Sambu (2007–2022)
Hon. Martin Wanyonyi Pepela (2022–present)
Administratively, the constituency comprises three wards;
Ndivisi, Mihuu, and Maraka - each with distinct characteristics and economic activities.
1. Ndivisi Ward
Area MCA: Hon. Alfred Wekesa Mukhanya
Former MCAs: Hon. John Musakali (2013–2017), Hon. Martin Pepela (2017–2022)
Population: Approximately 57,336 people
Description: The largest ward in Webuye East by land area.
Economic Activity: Predominantly agricultural, with sugarcane and maize farming as the main sources of livelihood.
2. Mihuu Ward
Area MCA: Hon. Violet Namaemba Makhanu
Former MCA: Hon. John Nanyakha (2013–2017)
Population: Approximately 43,817 people
Description: The second-largest ward in Webuye East Constituency.
Economic Activity: Largely dependent on agriculture.
3. Maraka Ward
Area MCA: Hon. Ali Machani Mutoka
Population: Approximately 41,042 people
Description: A cosmopolitan ward covering the urban areas of Webuye East.
